The only GW book I've got is first in the Gaunt's Ghost series. I usually shy away from books based on a successful non-book franchise, but I thought what the hell and bought it to read during my upcoming holiday (Corfu! . Fingers crossed that I like it. Jackhammer, currently reading "A Second Chance at Eden" by Peter F Hamilton (good book)

Just hopping on to urge everybody to go out and read "Storm of Iron". Will not give away any of the story. All I will say is that it was nice to read a story largely from the choas point of veiw and not to see the all powerful Imperial Marines come in to save the day. In all, a very well written story giving a varied look at a large seige operation from both the defenders and aggressors points of veiw.

A friend of mine just got this book, so I will steal it from him soon. Also, 'Pawns of Chaos' is also written from the Chaos point of view, and is actually a very interesting book. Check it out.

"Best of the rest" were the Malazan books by Steven Erikson which were excellent and well worth buying. I'll probably pick up the rest of the Gaunt's Ghost series as and when the funds become available. Jackhammer

At Games-Day it was announced that the BFG novel "Execution Hour" will have a sequel. It is released in Jan/Feb. It is called "Shadow Point".
It appears to follow directly on from the previous book with Abaddon trying to take control of the Blackstones and the Imperial trying to from an alliance with the Eldar.

I'm a major fan of the Gaunt's Ghosts books...I had a look at one of Gavin Thorpe's Last Chancer books, but I couldn't put it down fast enough.

I agree. I looked that the Last Chancer first book in a GW, and hated it. The Gaunts Ghost books are great - I am waiting to read the fourth now.

The only bit of the last chancer novels I have seen was ion the back of the third Gaunts Ghost book. I didn't really appeal to me. I too am waiting to get a start on the 4th in the Ghost series. (only 4 of 10!)

Well I've just finished Farseer, but to be honest I didn't think it was that good. I thought it was well wrote ( though dragged a little in places) I just thought the story was a bit c**p
py. I hated the way that (trying not to give too much away) an untrained Imperial Psyker was as powerful as an ancient Farseer, who has undergone intense training, and who is from Ulthwe too.
Nope I was dissappointed. I thought it would be wrote from an Eldar POV.
I'm gonna try and get hold of Harlequin next.

I was a little disappointed with Farseer myself, although at the same time it was not as bad as it could have been. I hated the Space Wolf book, and so had low expectations. It cant really have been from the Eldars perspective, to alien, but I liked the warp section.
