Hi. Well, September is upon us. I had the busiest month, probably of my whole life, in August. But, now things should settle down quickly and this site can grow quickly. So, what do you guys want?
I am interested in everyones opinions of the site in general, and in particular what some of the new players of both Epic and Gothic think - since there will probably be more new players with EpicA coming next year and the second edition of Gothic due soon.
So, what do you like and what could be done to it. What bits around here need improving, and what would you like to see added that is not here already. I would like more articles on tactics, fleet selection, etc in particular. I would also like the front links a bit more professionally done, and these forums moved.
What do you think?

I think the sites great, and the only real flaw is the lack of forum members. Obviously this isn't your fault. To be honest there probably is enough members now, just not enough activity from them.
One thing I have thought about is the new version of EpicA. Will this need a new forum? I dont think it should, but maybe something in whatever the title of the thread is.
We still need more battle groups for BFG and epic. Would it be wise to send in EpicA battle groups though, as its going to be the newer version. That would make it difficult for me since I would rather do an Eldar one.
The Gothic catalogue is a bit of a none starter at the moment. I wonder if we could use some standard pics of the ships for now, until people send in there own. For instance, I could write up stuff on my Eclipses', but use a pic from off the web for now, since I have no camera access. And then if I ever get pics of my own ships, replace the ones that are there. At least we could then get the tactics, uses and fluff of them up then.
I've just had a nice new 17" monitor to replace my old and out of focus 15". (it used to hurt my eyes to look at after 10mins). So the site looks better to me already. I can read the posts easier, and can even now see those green grid lines on the transmissions on the front page. My old monitor wouldn't pick up detail like that before.

Yeah, August really was a busy month. When yous said move the forums, what exactly did you mean? did you mean you want to set up a new format board? This site is growing, as it is larger then when i first started coming here back in April. I am at the oppostiteend of Shadow Hunters argument. I have Camera access but badly painted minis! (they are getting better though and soon my text on them will have been re-written after my Hard Drive Crash).
I can't really think of any overall suggestions for this site apart from a few more articles. I think the front page is fine currently but i don't think it needs a drastic overhaul yet.

Thank you both. The lack of forum activity can be a problem. However, I think that the number of members is not such a problem, even considering that a lot have never posted. The fact is that with Epic and Gothic, the support is low and the activity is less than 40K and Fantasty. It always will be. To be honest, I have been very pleased in the last few months with a few people signing up. I guess that, as the site continues to grow and expand, it will get better known and attract more people to it, and the forums. Aside from posting in other forums, which I am doing, I am open to suggestions. Perhaps another competition soon? I dont think that EpicA will need a seperate forum. However, if things get confusing then I can add one easily. We will just see how it goes. If we add that, would we then need Space Marine I, Space Marine II and Space Fleet forums as well? The Gothic catalogue is indeed, umm, slow. While adding 'stock' pictures would help, I dont want to start stealing pictures from other sites, even GW. I would rather simple add a 'blank picture' with 'to be added' or something similar. I could add a few Chaos ships, and I might do this to get things started. Shadow Hunter - I am glad that you can see the grid lines now. For the forums, for quite a while now, I have wanted to run them myself. Right now, this place is hosted by Proboards. I have a couple of free CGI forums and I would like to run one of them instead. It would mean no adverts, better rankings, and direct control from me. It would, however, cut down the members as people would need to sign up to the new system. What do you all think? More articles I agree with.

Lose my 180 odd posts? AAARRRRGHH Only joking. If you want to do it, and have been thinking about it for a while, and you think that it would be a better system, then go ahead. Thanks for asking us, instead of doing whatever you want.

Thanks for asking us, instead of doing whatever you want. I will try to carry the posts across to the other board. If I am in control of it then it must be possible... maybe. I will do my best. Anyway, I would not worry right now, it is something that I have been thinking about for a while and not had the time to actually do. I will warn you when it happens, but it will have to erventually hapen, I think (unless there is a lot of anti-feeling towards it).

yeah, thanks for informing us of your plans before doing anything I don't think another competition is needed for this site. The first one was good but too many people came for the competition but never stayed Maybe consider signing up to the Warp topp 100 Lists. o convincing them to start a topp 100 list for fanatic games. Moving the forum would proberly lose most of the posters who havn't posted anything yet however you could e-mail them all and let them know incase they wanted to continue (I assume you have access to all their e-mails being the administrator and all). Yippie. Post 100 ;D

It is true, a lot of the new members did leave after the competition. However, the real purpose was to get a load more articles, since visitors want stuff to read and interest them. In this respect it worked well, and I still have a few left over from the last competition to add.
Moving EpiComms probably would lose a lot of the posters which rarely or never visit or post. I would bulk email a message to them, in case they wanted to register with the new version.

Hi, I've recently joined the group as I've started playing BFG and Epic again. You mentioned needing pics for the Gothic Catalogue, feel free to steal from my site if you think they're useful www.accesswave.ca/~gbevanCheers Graham "The Gothic catalogue is indeed, umm, slow.
