Not sure if this is the right location, but I'll start it here anyway.
Having recently just started Fantasy, and finally starting a Skaven army (something I've wanted to do for sometime). I find that my BFG games have stopped. So I thought if I'd comine the two, I can carry on worshipping the horned rat whilst demolishing cruisers.
Basically, I thought I'd put this forward and ask people to have a brainstorm. What do you reckon would be thier strengths/weaknesses? Unfortunantly I think they would end up similar to Orks, and therefore not unique enough.
Basically they would be random and unpredictable, but could be very dangerous. Weak armour with the potential for extremely powerful weapons. Reasonably fast, low Ld. Lots of Escorts, not many cruisers.
Anyone want to add anything?

The best way to make them different from Orks would be to make them torpedo heavy. I would see lots of swarms in tin tubes fired at the enemy ships. Weapon batteries would be more common than lances. Yes to more Escorts than Heavier stuff. In keeping with the Skaven, life would be cheap, and technology limited, so crewed everything would work best, possibly very limited attack craft, etc. Let me know what you come up with!

Okay, off the top of my head;
in the fantasy they have the warp lightning cannon. This could be similar to a lance. hmmm, it needs to be random though. you could have a random firepower value, such as d3 or d6 lance shots, but thats a bit boring. Or maybe D6 lance shots, at 9D6 range (a lot of adding i know) and for every shot that you roll a one to hit with, roll again. On another one its a lance hit against yourself.
Short range batteries. For the fire power value you could use the same system as the ratling gun. roll a D6, and carry on until you want to stop or roll a double. this is probably best on the cruiser only, as i find I can get to 8 quite reliably. Once a value is determined, carryon as you would. if a double 1-3 is rolled no shots fired (somethings gone wrong) on 4-6 all shots fired in random direction in that arc.
Assault boats a definant. As they live in warrens, they should have a bonus at such close quarter fighting, +1.
Torps. Not sure yet. I'll carry on thinking

Okay warpstone/plasma torpedoes. Very destructive but on a roll of one self detructs on its way to the target. maybe they get a re-roll to penetrate armour similar to eldar to simulate how destructive they are.
Thier ships probably shouldn't have many shields, turrets but are quick and nippy. Weak armour, 4+sides and rear, 5+ front. I think I might have a go at desinging a ship.
