OK. I have been putting together a couple of Dark Eldar Corsair escorts, and I thought that I would talk about the painful experience.
The models are not my favourites. In fact, I originally said that I would not get any. The thing that changed my mind was the picture on a recent Gothic Mag of the escort with the X-Wing fins. Very cool. So, I thought that I would get a pack.
At first glance, all seems well. You get two top fins, and two x-wing fins. I knew that I wanted two x-wing fins in one escort, which left the two larger fins on the second.
It seems a great idea. Each fin/x-wing has a rectangular 'foot', and the main hull has a footprint top and bottom. The problem with this design is that you cant file the inside of the footprint. So, when you try to glue a nice flat foot into a bumpy print, the glue has little to bind it, and gluing becomes a nightmare.
Second problem is that the larger fins are too big. The one stuck underneither the vessel curves round so far that it makes it impossible to actually glue the base into the ship. The result? I snipped off the end of the fin, leaving it looking more like the Eldar (I will get pictures up as soon as I can).
I am now getting around to painting the ships, but if you are thinking of getting some escorts, either mix fin/x-wing on each, or get the booster pack for the smaller fin!

It seams quite bad for GW thet they let their quality slip that bad. Then again it wouldn't be the first time that their models have included so much detail thet they are nearly impossible to paint/assemble. Edit: Good Luck with them ;D
