The eternal question! Starting a new fleet (for me) and I am wondering whether I should leave the bases clear, or paint them black. Generally, I like the painted black ones, but my other fleets are clear. What do people do, and what looks best? I have a black cloth for my gaming table, so either will be fine from that perspective.

Well, I like them black better myself, allows for easy labeling/naming of ships and the like..
(Do Nid ships have names? =p )

I am now going back and painting the ships bases black slowly. I prefere it. I also have some sticky address labels that I am printing names on and putting on the base. I am not sure about Tyranid ship names! They are more individual and sentient than any other races shps, but I dont see many Tyranid Warriors in 40K named George or whatever! I would guess that the names are what Imperials give them, stick to Greek mythology, or latin names like the animal types.

I think that the Greek names work best for Hive fleets (Kaken, Promethius etc) not individual ships. I think for ships it is best to use Latin names. Try some of the Dinosaur names in latin, some sound cool for ships.
