Hi, I was looking in the updated showcase and I saw the name tags on the bases of Commissar Tim's BFG ships. Does anybody know what those plastic things are that he used to stick the labels on to?

I think that they are card holders for file labels. He has cut them up. I will ask him, or better yet get him to post here!

I just got this reply from Tim, I hope that it helps.
In answer to your enquiry, the little tags on my gothic ships are plastic suspention file divider tag holders. You can get them in any good stationary store. They need to be cut down though. The bottom part where it clips onto the suspension file needs to be cut off and then the actual tag holder needs to be cut in half so it is the correct size to fit onto a Gothic flying base. You have to be careful when cutting as the plastic is very brittle and shatters easily. The cut edges must be smoothed off with sandpaper. I have used a hack saw but I would recommend where possible to use a mechanical band saw or circular saw. This would give a straight edge that will be easier to sand smooth and looks nicer. The tag holder should then be glued onto the base using as little glue as possible as it is clear and the dried glue will show up on the base. The end result though is that you have a tag holder into which you can slide in a ships name tag. It allows to change the name of a ship as many times as you like without having to by new models or just have ships named permanantly. This is useful in campaign games where ships may get destroyed and new ones built and added to your fleet quite often.

Ok thanks a lot. I will try that next week when my uni exams are over ;D I like the idea of renaming the ship by simply replacing the tag. It would save me re-painting the base everytime

I finally got a chance to try these out and they work great. How about putting up an article on your site comparing the diffrent methods of name tags and bases (Stands, painting the names on etc) with step by step instructions on how to do them?

That is actually a very good idea. I will get on it. It might have to wait a short while, so that I can get some close up pictures from Tim. Thanx.
