Just wondering what modelling people have done for asteroids? I've been using the tokens out of the box, but there aren't that many and they dont look very good. I saw about cutting up blocks of polystyrene, but wondered if anyone was using anything else?

I am still using those frightening counters. I am looking for some polystyrene balls, about golf ball size. I think that if I spray these with aerosol they will melt nicely and irregular. Whack them on flying bases and that will do nicely! Trouble is, I have no idea where to find the polysyrene Golf Balls! Anyone with any ideas?

I use those "polysyrene Golf Balls" for everything ;D They look good as moons ans if they are broken up into chunks and then sprayed they make cool looking Asteroids. My mum is big into crafts (knitting etc) so she shops in big 'cash and carry's. That is where i get my balls from. i think they cost about £2 a bag with about 15 in the bag (I am going of memory here, it has been a while since i bought any).

You can get the same effect (and cheaper) (for free actually) if you get that "compact foam" (dont know how to spell the right name in english) that comes inside boxes, protecting new tv's, or freezer's or whatever. Just cut them in some shape you like and spray away... (Dont do this inside a closed room, by the way...)
There is a material used a lot in construction usually known as "wall mate" or "roof mate" which is made from this "dense foam", and that I use whenever I want to do terrain pieces for 40k or even fantasy. It will do just fine for BFG too!

It would be cheaper, but I would need to buy a TV to get some! ;D I am looking at those cheap golf balls, of hollow plastic.

LOL Quote: "Posted by: CyberShadow It would be cheaper, but I would need to buy a TV to get some! " Of course not! The ones on the microwaves would do fine, and are a lot cheaper! ;D
