i've just got my first defence monitor: and really like the model and the idea of a slow aggressive little ship: it also fits nicely into the fluff for my army (The Crinan Sector: a sector rich in asteroid mining and hive planets - with an archaic set of navy ships, and just out-fitting the system with a new fleet of monitors as a cost saving policy)
just curious if anyone has used one and had any experience with these. one tactic I thought of was matching a couple of these with one of the slow battleships: or making a squadron of three or four of these: keep them close together and have them follow the main battle line into combat.
is this a mad fantasy of mine....or can defence monitors actually be useful in battle?

well - i used three defence monitors in a squadron - and they were awesome! three batteries of str 8 - i had 24 dice to roll! ;D
OK - they were slow: but i wish i'd deployed them at the front of the battleline rather than at the back: they were fantastic. 2 turrets; armour 6 all round. I love em!
