Please don't laugh Having never assembled any Epic models together before I have stumbled across a small problem. I can see that 5 minis go on a base (no problems there), but when I come to choising which ones go where i get confused. For normal infrenry its simple but the Command bases arn't. Does it matter what minis go on the base to make up the command squad and does it always have to be 5 on there. So should I just stick the minis down (captain, commissar + 3 random guys), or does it have to be presise (Like in 40K where you must have the model to use the rules)? I hope the above question was clear enough, if not I can try to explain it again Thanks. Edit:: What about the Rough Riders and Ogryns. do I have to place 5 of them on each base?

This is not such a dumb question, but the answer is - as long as both you and your opponent know and you are consistant then it does not matter. I have been playing Epic of some version for about 15 years, but I had a dilema as to whether to have one or two heavy weapons on a devastator stand.
In general, I vary it. I simply make a lose rule, such as command stands always have a commisar. Then you can add whatever you like, four normal guys or no-one else, and it is still obvious.
For things like bikes and cavalry, three to a base is more normal. For things like dreadnoughts, a seperate square base is best, and mounted singularly - I use round washers for these.
There are 'standard' configurations, depending on the stands, but you wont have trouble if you dont stick to them.

Yep, as Cybershadow said, as long as its consistent, and both you and your opponent know which is what. The marine and Imperial heavy weapons I use have two heavy weapons per stand. These I place in different places for variety though. Sometimes the heavy weapons are in the middle, sometimes one at either end. Bikes and cavalry you just use three minis. Turn the stands upside down so you havent got the circles showing. My Warwalkers and WL etc I have still to get round to basing. What do you guys use for one model units like walkers?
I need to base my support platforms too, as they are too fiddly on thier own.
Generally for my command stands, I stick the leader (Farseer, captain or whatever) in the middle. It easy for Eldar since it will generally only be a Farseer surrounded by guardians. With marines you can use either the captain or chaplain, and then give him a command section.

For my single units, for example dreadnoughts and in practise a Tyranid Lictor (I will try to get pictures when he is done), I use washers. I have found some that are one inch in diameter (2.54cm) and have a hole in the centre just bigger than an Epic base disc. They need a bit of filling, but they are metal and so quite heavy and give plenty of room around the mini for a good base. Also, they are about £3 for 40.
For cavalry, bikes, etc have a look at Warmaster bases. They should do the trick nicely.
