Just an idea which came to me... What do people think of a competition on the site? My thoughts are to have the prize as a years subscription/extension to either Epic or Gothic magazine.
Entries would be made by either sending an article that is included on the site, or posting five times on the forum while the competition is active. The competition would run through the entire month of May. Each article would add a name to the draw, more articles means more chance of winning, and five (or more) forum posts gives ONE extra entry, as does sending in any number of pictures for the Showcase.
What do you think? Would it work? I dont want to get two or three people only entering.

I'd be interested, but I'm not sure what the take up would be like. You would have to push the competition a lot for it to make a real difference.

I think that I will go with this. I emailed GW: MO and they said that I could get a subscription for someone else no problem. There should be the official announcement soon. Anyone with ideas of how best to publicise it? Thanx.

I would think that the best way to publisise the compation would be to include it all over message boards in peoples sigs. Also advertise all over your site. I think it is a good idea but it would proberly end up with only a couple of people takiing part.

OK, I opened the competition today. I thought that now was the right time, and hopefully the site will grow and get articles from others, so that when the Gothic rerelease is on us this site will be well placed for all the new interest. Details on the front page. Tell your friends! ;D

Well, we have already had four entries into the competition - one forum (you know who you are!), one Showcase and two articles. This may be a bit more hard fought than any of us realised! And, I have two emails from people to say that they are working on something. Good news indeed.

I've seen your topic in the Fanatic forum, hopefully it will get you some more attention. I've added a reply with a link to this site as you didn't have one in your post:). Have you posted your competition details on any other forums as the more the merrier!

I saw your reply, thanks. I did not realise that the signature was not working and so left off the details. I have edited my original post there to put it right. Thanks again.
I have posted the competition details and announcement in most of the forums that I visit regularly. If you can think of any or visit any that I may have missed please either post the details yourself or let me know. The more people that know about this, the better for the site.

Well, the competition has been more successful than I thought that it would be (although there are still a few people who have not sent in something! You know who you are, and you have a week left!). I have had a total of 15 entries, including five from the forums and 3 sets of pictures (although no Epic or Gothic pictures). However, I have had almost no Epic stuff at all, and it has been mostly Gothic.

Its amazing how many people this compation has drawn towards this site, I think the members list has almost doubled since I joined about a month ago! I stop opering regulary due to my exams and when I return a few days later there are tons of new posts to read I suppose the hardest part is keeping the posters once the month is over.

Yes, that is something that I am considering right now. Although, there are a lot of great articles coming up because of the competition and that should raise the site a little more. The hits for this place do keep increasing each month, and that is a good thing. If anyone has any ideas for the future growth of the site, then I would love to hear them.
