It took me long enough it get this edition! I know The new version is forthcoming but I saw it sitting there all alone on the shelf while I was away on holiday so I bought the Players edition. The rules seem Ok from what I have read, If i have any problems I am sure to ask them here So now I have to do is to convince my friends to play the latest version. Only one problem and that is the plastic minis have been discontinued and the only minis I have a years old and of a race I don't wanna play!! Luckly I want to play Imperial Guard so when the minis are re-released/re-made for Epic Armageddon I should be aboule to use them then. And if no one plays with me then I will still be able to represent my 40K Imperial Guard army in Epic ;D

Great, and welcome to Epic. I would play a couple of games and get the Armageddon rules as well. The Players Edition is still useful for stuff like counters, etc and it is a great game.
The end of the plastics is a serious problem. But there will be metal strips of infantry, most likely Guard, Marines and Orks first. I am sure that you will find people to fight, especially if you have two armies. All the best, and feel free to post any thoughts here, the Epic side of this site is not as active as the Gothic and I would like it to become as good, with articles and chat.

Yes, as far as I am aware, all the plastics for the Epic system are being discontinued and replaced with metal minis like Warmaster. Eventually all the races will have metal troops but Imperial Guard Orks (and I assume Space Marines) will be first due to them being the focus of Epic Armageddon.

The problem is that Fanatic cant afford the huge costs of making plastics, meaning that new races, and any replacements for broken plastic molds, will be metal. There is a rumour that there will be no more plastics after Mail Order have sold out. I called last week and told that Chaos is out of stock, but today I ordered and they said that they would cast some Chaos sprues for me. We will have to wait and see what actually happens, but the bottom line is that plastics are on the way out, so get them while they can.

bah, I tried odering some Imperial Guard Sprues after making that first post but no luck, mail order said that they arn't making any more untill the end of the year (at the earliest, if ever!) So now I just have to hang about and wait for E:A. Any idea of its expected due date?

I am currently exchanging emails with Mail Order. They state that my order (including 5 guard sprues) is OK except for Chaos sprues. I ordered a while ago, so I may have just got the guards before they ran out. Mail Order still maintain that they will re-cast sprues soon, but they have not done so yet. I will let you know. As an aside, Ground Zero make some generic 6mm, I have some to use for Genestealer Cultists.
EpicA was scheduled for release next Spring, and I would guess that Guards would be one of the first armies out for it. However, this may have been put back a bit to Summer 2003. If I hear anything then I will let you know.

I got my Epic order yesterday as well. 14 Tyranid sprues, 10 Chaos, 8 Guard and a couple of Imperial Tanks. Lots of new toys! All arrived OK, except that the Chaos Beastmen had most of their swords bent. Looks like a conversion opportunity then!

It's true that you will not be able to by any of the Epic stuff in the shops but al the metal backrange should still be avaliable via mail-order. The Imperialguard tanks are still there because I got some the other week. Give mail order a call

Yes. It is just the plastic stuff that is unavailable. That is the infantry for all of the races (except Tau) and the vehicles for Marines (Rhinos, Land Raiders and Whirlwinds) and Orks (Battlewagons). Everything else should still be out there.
