Greetings, mortals!
I have heard much about the coming Black Crusade of Abaddon the Despoiler and the forces of chaos, though nothing really concrete. Does anyone know more about it? Also, what do you think the outcome will be? I would prefer that chaos takes a lot of territory and keeps it, at least for a longer time and change the map of the galaxy somewhat.

If anything they will proberly over-run Cadia and control the space around the eye of terror. It is unlikly for games workshop to change the background too much at any one time so the Black Crusade is unlikly to be too sucssessful Hopefully it will be another worldwide campaign that includes Epic and BFG more this time that the Armageddon Campaign.

It seems that this may not actually happen!!! It looks like there will be a Fantasy Chaos campaign this Summer, and a Necron 40K campaign. The latest WD (#270) just mentions these two (and a Lord of the Rings one), nothing about a 13th crusade.

What I ment to say was that the campaign would be next year! I realised a while ago it could not have fitted in this year. It also will make more scence. If it happened this year the new codex would not be out for it! There were rumers of them tying in BFG into it as Abaddon also assembles a massive fleet.

No-one has a larger Chaos fleet than you, Khyron. Not even Abaddon himself. While I would guess that a new Chaos Black Crusade may be a year away, the Necron awakening will involve Gothic heavily, I guess. Also, there was a rumour that, since it is possible that one of the C'Tan instigated the last Black Crusade, in order to locate and tie up the Blackstones, a new Crusade could be started bythe same C'Tan in order to determine if the last two Blackstones still exist.

Well, I'd hoped so...*g*
But...the C'Tan again. Next we hear is that the emperor was/or is in reality a C'Tan (the machine god already is one). Possibly Gork and Mork, too. I think, GW makes a serious mistake to so heavily involve them into current backgrounds. Makes some people not-so-happy (like me). But, we'll see what's coming. I am looking forward to the re-release of BFG and the involvment in the campaign.

In Codex Necrons it states that the Gothic War was started by a C'Tan! What I don't get is that these things have supposed to have been asleep for millions of years and only awoken recently, so how could one of them stated the Gothic War 700 years ago?!

Very true indeed. Also, the eldar are supposedly the only race left to have experience with the Necs. But the Necrons are sleeping for 60 Million years and the eldar are old...but not that old. Perhaps they mistook them with the Slann. I really think that many players are not pleased with that new background. I have a buddy who plays an imperial Titan legion and a small Adeptus Mechanicus army and he was quite shocked when he read the small Abaddon-stroy in the Codex Necrons. 'Oh, great. Now my true and only god is in fact a Star Vampire.' And the new, galaxy-spanning crusade will be solely instigated just to look if the two remaining Blackstones are still exisiting. Where are the real gods? What does Tzeentch do to fight the Necrons? Where's the Emperor? I think it's time for all races and faithes to band together and kick these upstarts from our galaxy so we can continue our time-honoured bloodletting.

Yeah, I think it sucks how closely bound to the 40K background the C'tan are...if there was one on Mars, fine, but making one the Machine God is stupid. The Emperor is NOT a C'tan (or should not be) and same goes for Gork and Mork...for some reason GW has decided that there should be some kind of conspiracy behind everything in the game, which is stupid. Down with the tinbots!

I'm sure the Necrons will be forgotten about in time. Only a few months ago they had all the attention and now Chaos has once-again got all the focus as "the baddest things in the galaxy".
FishPig: I agree that it is stupid that everything that happens has to be some part of a huge conspricy. Maybe if GW wrote some of the fluff better in the first place then they wouldn't try to change it every few years to get people to buy new minis!

Mmm, I agree! I'm also a member of another forum and people there were really angry when the Tau we released that nobody had ever heard of them. You know, one minute nothing, then a whole new technologically advanced race just 'pops' into being! On the other hand, I doubt that GW would have been writing fluff quite that far in advance...

I don't think its the fact they they keep inventing new stuff that annoys me, it is the way they change the exsisting background material without thinking about it.
At least they have prepared us for a couple of new races by showing us some of them in the 40k rulebook.
I agree that the Tau were a bit strange though. IF GW explained it that they suddenly appered over night then that would be one thing, but their fluff indicates that they have been in contact with the Imperium for a while now, so how come they wern't even hinted at?

Actually I understood that the Imperium had found the au a long time ago, but the Tau were still at the blackpowder stage. Then the Explorator Fleet was trapped in a warpstorm and lost so the Imperium has not contacted the Tau since then. But it still sucks.
Anyhow, the Tau will be extinct pretty soon...they have the Imperium on one side, Orks on the other, and a Hive Fleet incoming as well! Die!
