And I admit I need help. With the list I mean. Its a linked campaign, 40K and BFG. I have been having fun using Orks in 40K, so I decided to bite the bullet and use them. I will face Imperial, chaos, Eldar, Marine and at least one Nid player and Necron player. In all there are about 15 players. I think I'm the only Ork. The campaign starts on Friday, so I haven't much time to prepare. The BFG list is 1000pts. Of which an attacker can chose 600pts to fight. And the defender chooses 700pts. Also, the 40K army must be allocated to the ships. My fleet list is something like this, 2 Terror ships with a warlord each and extra powerfield 6 Onslaughts 5 Ravagers 2 Brutes (though I have no models for them.) The only tactic I can think of so far, is to board the enemy. With the double boarding value, its their best weapon. I just have to get close enough first. I thought of ramming, but I need my ships alive too (they are carrying my force) so only took two brutes (plus I dont actually have any models for them). Other tactics are generally to close asap, and let loose everything. I figure to keep everything together, and pick on individual enemy ships, one at a time. So any advice? It is needed. Are the extra power fields best to choose? I figured it would keep me alive a little longer as I close. Should I upgrade to torpedoes and boarding torps? Or keep the heavy gunz? Or upgrade one and leave the other? (I plan on using the two cruisers in a squadron, to try and get a high leadership by using the best one.) I await replys with eagerness

Well, played my first campaign turn on Friday, and won. I invaded a Chaos minig world. I could've gone after an uninhabited world, but that would have been boring. The BFG game was a let down. My opponent hadn't played much before. (he was about 11-15 I'm not good with kid ages) so it was an easy game for me. Although he had a good fleet, he used it poorly. Which was fortunant for me since I didn't feel confident. He had two chaos cruisers. A Murder and a Havoc (you choose a 1000pt list, and then use the ships from it, so composition rules dont apply) and he had about 5 idolators (the torp ones anyway) and 3 or 4 iconoclasts (the lance ones?). I had the ammer, about 5 ravagers and about 2 or 3 onslaughts. I cant remember now. He won first turn, which suited me as my weapons were out of range. (and so were his as it turned out, so no damage) My turn I shot forwards and fired at hi lanced armed escorts. My shooting was terrible (all game) but the torps ripped through his escorts, destroying three of them. A couple hit his murder, but failed to harm it. Other torps were fired into his flight path, forcing his next turn to be about evasive actions. As a result I only lost 2 escorts. In his turn my ordanance attacked his escorts, but were shot down by turret fire. My turn, I had positioned my ammer to fire on his murder with it D6 + 6 firepower plus its S6 bombardment cannon. I also had about 3 escorts in a position to strip its shields first. I was confident in causing some serious damage. However, the kid had become really fed up with the game, and was not enjoying it. He wanted to quit there, and I wasn't enjoying the game either, as he kept buggering off to talk to his mates. I hate playing those sort of kids. He wasn't interested in learning. Anyway, we went straight to the 40k game. I hda the full 1500pt allocation, since he hadn't destroyed any of my ship and as he was on a mining world he got 1000pts + D3x100pts. After rolling a 6 he had 1300pts. I wont go into the battle much, but in general he once again didn't know the rules. I was fighting a Chaos army, made up of bits and bobs from other armies. It was very frustrating. And I dont know the rules for Chaos. Everytime I attacked a unit, another 'special ability' came into effect. He happened to have 'forgot' his army list too. Anyway I caried on and slaughtered him. The organiser had wisend to all this too, and had observed most of what had gone on. By turn 3 he had already gave me the system. The 'child' wasn't very happy. His cheesed out force (whether he payed for all his abilities I'll never know) hadn't done as he expected. So I now have 3 systems. 2 mining worlds and a hive world. In order of importance; Forge World (only one on map) Hive world (only two on map) mining world civilised world agri world uninhabited world

Sounds like a disappointing first turn. Any information on how the campaign is set up? Who picks the battles, etc? Good luck with the next turn.

The game runs through campaign turns. The higher up the list you are, the more likely you are to choose your battles. Luckily for me I'm about third out of around 15-20.
I will attack someone else on Friday, as long as I wasn't attacked after I left last Friday. I think the lad I played is the only one who isn't really into the campaign. So the next game should be a lot better.
There seems to be a lot of chaos players. The Necron player has dropped out (his missus was taken I'll. I know it was my cousin) but the Nid player is still there, and his fleet looks tough. Luckily for me, he's not that near me. And the only marine fleets are over the other side of the map, along with the only Eldar player.
The Eldar player (someone I regularly ally with when I'm playing Eldar, whether 40K, BFG or cityfight) attacked the only forge world, taking it from the hands of Dark Angels. He was immediatly attacked then though by Chaos. I dont know the result yet.
The forge world is smack bang in the middle of the map, so has a few systems with a route to it. However, it provides good resources.
When I left on Friday, 4 systems had been attacked, and 4 systems had fallen. All the attackers won, and believe me its not easy. (well it was for me). If you win BFG you gain renown points, and earn VP for 40k.
Also the club is running a league for gamers. whether its in a campaign or not, your wins are recorded.
I should be okay at the moment, 2 40K wins out of 2, and 1 BFG win out of 1.
