Hi Guys, At a recent Con in Halifax Nova Scotia, we (local gaming group Rogue Battalion) had a huge 18000pt Imperial Vs Chaos and Ork battle. The pics are online and can be found at : roguecodex.tripod.com/mainpage.htmljust click on the main pic. I can't remember the order of battle but there were Four Imperial Battleships and more cruisers than you can imagine. It was really hard work to control that many ships but the battle was a complete blast (literally). Imperial Forces barely eked out a victory but prevailed in the end. Anyway hope you like the pics Graham

What a game! How long did it take?
The largest game I've had so far is a 2500point game. And I was running out of counters for that. I like the idea of drawing the boarders of asteroid fields, though it does mean you cant alter the position for other games.

You can always simply use a piece of string to mark out asteroid fields. Alternatively, draw them on clear acetate (for over-head projectors) in white paint, or paint designs on them in this way.
That looks like a fantastic game. Why is the board hexed? Do you use it for other games, such as Full Thrust? Thanks for the link, keep sending stuff like that, as we all like to see the pretty pictures.

It took us about 6 hours to play (and even then we weren't finished, but decided to call it a day)
It was a really fantastic game (2 players a side) but made your head hurt trying to keep track of all of the ships. The playsheets are from Geo-Hex They come with or without hexes, I got them with to be more flexible. I thought there would be a problem with Nova Guns, but they aren't really precise enough over distance to help.
There were several funny incidents during the game, the best was a single cobra that somehow got itself right between the Imperial and Chaos lines. (specifically between two broadside based battleships). The chaos player failed leadership to fire at the retribution and the cobra survived the fire of the battleship and three cruisers before succumbing to the fourth. Vengeance was had in the next turn when the Retribution cut the chaos line at point blank range, opening fire with both broadsides.. Really, you guys should try a game this big, the amount of firepower is devastating. Its not unusual for cruisers to be wiped out in a single engagement. I'd not seem what a battleship could do up close and personal until this, its pretty scary stuff

If Imperial and Chaos cruisers weren't lasting long, then I'd hate to see how long my Eldar Cruisers would last.

I'm not sure how well Eldar would fare in a large fleet engagement. I'm normally on the recieving end of the pain that is Eldar hit and run tactics (usually to my detriment).
With a large battle there is very little room to hide, and the amount of firepower thrown around would make holofields a waste of power.
It might be useful to have some allied eldar to harass an opponents flanks, but its doubtul they could get close enough to the main battle line without getting a heavy kicking.

That seems to sum up my games. The larger they are, the more difficult to win , as I run out of places to hide.
