Hi, I'm new to this board and the BFG game. Someone on the GW board recommended this site, so I figure it must be pretty good.
I haven't found anyone in my area who really plays BFG, so any help or advice would be appreciated.
A friend and I both bought a copy of the game and I took all the imperial stuff (8 crusiers) and he took all the chaos stuff (8 crusiers). I have since bought three swords, three firestorms, and eight cobras. I also bought a copy of the 2002 annual.
I made four of the crusiers into a mars, overlord, gothic and lunar class ship. I was holding off on making the other four unitl I had a better idea of what type of ships worked best. I know I need to make all the rest into crusiers since I have already made two battle cruisers. It would be helpful to know if people are generally playing with the experimental rules in the 2002 Annual. The rules dealing with nova cannons and ordnance in particular.
Also, I would like to get a battleship. Any advice on which is best?
Thanks, Roaddog40K

Greetings roaddog.
As an Eldar player I will give yu the limited advice I can. I know that the many imperial players will soon fill in the gaps for me though.
Personally I like the cheap ordanance cruiser (dictator I think) Other than that, it depends who you're playing. If against Eldar, load up on weapon batteries.
I tried the retribution once, and it was okay, but i think the overlord does a similar job. I think i'd go for he emporer instead. Though I haven't actually used that.
Que the imperial players...

Sorry, only a Chaos player waiting back here! Welcome to the site... and to Gothic. For players, where are you? Have a look at the Players Index, linked off the main front page. Even if there are no players in your area registered, add your details and let me know if you get any results. I think that a lot of people are using the experimental rules for the Nova and launch bays, and it looks to be very likely that they (or a variation) will be upgraded to standard rules with the next annual. For battleships, I prefere the one without the enhanced comms in the prow, but that is personal taste. Also, have a look at the three battleships from the Armageddon site - linked in the Additional Rules section - to see if any of those take your fancy. As far as I know, they are now official in the true sense of the expression (I dont know if you can use them in tournaments) but most people will allow them as they are still GW designs. All the best. Hopefully you will get an actual Imperial player next!

Hey there! Sounds like you have a huuuge fleet already...
Re: the Battleship...the Emperor sounds better but I'd still go the Retribution a) as it is a better model and b) the Emperor is Speed 15cm, which frankly doesn't cut it. The Retribution can keep up with your attacking cruisers and has a 6+ armour as well. The Retribution is designed (as I see it) to get into a firefight and deal out some hurtiness, whicle the Emperor stands back and beats up copious amounts of Eldar escort ships. Ite depends who you fight.
Gothic class are a waste of time against Eldar, mildy useful against Chaos and not too bad against Orks.
Lunar basically are sweet ships as they look really nice and can shoot at anything. Overlord battlecruisers are far and away the best ship in the Imperial fleet IMHO, so I'm glad you have one.

welcome to the board The four ship classes you have chousen is a very good start to the fleet. I personally would have made 2 lunar class ships instead of a Lunar and a Gothic because i like my Lunars hunting in pairs, so I reccomend you make up another Lunar. As for the Battleship I recomend a Retribution with the fleet that you have as its huge weapon batteries would add to the firepower already contained in your army.
